2010-2011 BWEF Enrichment Grants

The Bristol Warren Education Foundation has announced a full slate of grant recipients for the 2010-2011 school year. Winners represent a range of disciplines across all six district schools for a combined award amount of $23,210.99.


Winners are as follows:

GUITERAS

Cartography テ「ぎ�� Students explore the local community through mapmaking.

Math guided reading ramp up テ「ぎ�� Strengthen math and literacy through guided reading.

The collaborative teacher テ「ぎ�� Improve student achievement by engaging teachers in collaboration.

Community service presentation テ「ぎ�� Students present the history of Veterans and Flag Days to RI Veterans through reading and song. IXL Math intervention テ「ぎ�� Increase student achievement in math through web-based program.



ROCKWELL

Art docent program テ「ぎ�� Enhancements to existing art docent program.



HUGH COLE

Community Garden テ「ぎ�� Gardening supplies to build an outdoor learning center.

Physics behind the music テ「ぎ�� RI Philharmonic presentation.

Young writer's club テ「ぎ�� Materials to enable students to create and publish original works.



COLT ANDREWS

Art docent program テ「ぎ�� Exposure to visual arts program by community volunteers.

Wall of fame テ「ぎ�� Tiles/supplies to showcase student efforts toward integrity and responsibility.

Big math for little kids story hour テ「ぎ�� Provides literacy connections within a math workshop format.

KICKEMUIT MIDDLE SCHOOL

Nature's Classroom テ「ぎ�� Creating community through nature-based field trip.

Live vertebrates テ「ぎ�� Interact with live animals to enhance life sciences learning.



KMS/MHHS

New beginning band project テ「ぎ�� Collaboration between MHHS and KMS students introducing 6th graders to band.



MT. HOPE HIGH SCHOOL

Stone Guardians テ「ぎ�� Clay and supplies to make stone animals as seen in Southeast Asian art.

Energy for keeps テ「ぎ�� Learn about renewable energy by building a solar car and a wind generator.

Strings for all テ「ぎ�� Free lessons and violins to at-risk students in grades 6-12.

Virtual business for personal finance テ「ぎ�� Software to help students learn key financial skills.

Robotics テ「ぎ�� Materials to build robots and compete in robotic competitions.

Technology for dropout prevention テ「ぎ�� Creating learning centers to help reduce dropout rates.
