Nicky Piper completes four successful years as Chair of The Bristol Warren Education Foundation
June 15, 2020

The Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF) announces that after four years, Nicky Piper will be handing over the role of Chair of the Board of Directors to Darcy DaCosta.

The Bristol Warren Education Foundation is a community led organization dedicated to promoting student excellence in our public schools. Nicky has tirelessly given of her time on behalf of the Foundation, regularly engaging with teachers, school and district leadership, and the greater Bristol Warren communities.

Under Nicky's leadership, the BWEF grew the Food Truck 5/10K and Family Fun Day, and increased funding to the schools year-over-year. Led by Joe Ciullo, the BWEF also launched its scholarship fund for a graduating Mt. Hope High School senior during Nicky's tenure. This year, Nicky's strong and unwavering leadership helped guide the Board through a pivot to a virtual fundraising event when the BWEF's premier annual fundraiser – The Bee – was cancelled due to concerns related to COVID-19.

At the annual Board meeting, held virtually on June 3, the BWEF Board of Directors presented Nicky with tokens of appreciation thanking her for her leadership throughout her 4 years. She was also treated to a serenade by KMS chorus teacher, Andre Arsenault. Nicky said, 'It has been an honor and a joy to serve alongside so many dedicated volunteers, teachers, staff and students in Bristol Warren. Even in these difficult times, the BWEF is in a strong position to continue to support excellence in education across all of our district schools.'

The fourth Board Chair of BWEF will be Darcy DaCosta. Darcy expressed her sincere gratitude to Nicky's service, saying 'On behalf of the entire board, thank you Nicky for your thoughtful, intelligent leadership of the Foundation these last four years. The future of the BWEF is bright, thanks to the faith that the community continues to have in our mission and our work.'
